Today it is again "Lake La Jolla", with no wind, very smooth conditions, lots of Leopard sharks, Sea Lions still hanging in the Clam Cave, air temp 80, water temp 67, ideal conditions!

Yesterday: Small craft advisory - Today: let's go kayaking!
Yesterday we had strong winds and choppy waters, but today is a new and beautiful day!
The 10:00 AM tour had on board Nicolee & Mark whom were celebrating their anniversary, and Bob, Terry, Jen and Austin from Goodyear, AZ. Their guide was Jesse.
They saw Leopard sharks at the Shores, and they met our locals Sea Lions in the Clam Cave. The swell was still rocking a bit at the Cave, but by carefully timing the entry, Jesse was able to get everybody in, one boat at a time and for a short period of time (in and out!).

Another foggy start...
It was foggy again this morning, but not as much as yesterday, today we were able to see the cliff from the shores! And the sun is already coming out (it is 12:21 PM);

Foggy Day...
It started with a 1 mile visibility this morning at 7:00 AM, but luckily it did clear up for the 9:20 AM Tour. That said because of the grey sky and the waves, we were not able to see many sharks, but all tours did manage to enter the Clam Cave and greet the Sea Lions in the back of the cave :-)
For the first tour we had a group of students from Hilltop, they all did enjoy the waves and the cave very much.

No more red tide!
After a week dealing with patches of red tide from the Shores to the Cove, finally it did clear up.
The early tour at 9:20 was able to see about a dozen of Leopard sharks, to get in the cave and observe sleeping beauties ... Sea Lions... Later on the sun came out to warm the air, and it got a little bit busier but it is so beautiful and calm.
Those pictures were taken on the 9:20 AM tour with Annette and David from Texas, with Dom as a guide.

The "After Labor Day Effect"
Calm streets, calm beach, calm and undisturbed wildlife, clear (and calm!) water, this is La Jolla Shores at its BEST! Look for yourself with those pictures and video taken this morning...

One of those perfect days in La Jolla
Blue sky, the ocean is gentle, clear and full of life lately; we saw (again) dozens of Leopard Sharks at the slide in very shallow waters, Sea Lions in the Clam Cave, and even one Sevengill shark and 2 Soupfin sharks, all harmless to people, no worries ;-)
We didn't have the chance to spot the Sea Turtle, unfortunately, but others did, so we know it is still around....

Tara's Birthday Party on the water
Yesterday we had a Private tour set up for Tara's birthday; despite the waves being pretty big at the caves (always nice to watch from a safe distance!), we all had a great time on the water, racing, standing up, having fun.
A Sea Lion swam by, the Cormorants surrounded us, Pelicans flew above us in formation, though overcast the water was warm, good time.

Sea Lions everywhere!
Finally we got the sun back, and with it a very good visibility at the caves where more and more Sea Lions are basking on the rocks, and playing in the water!
Yesterday with Chase and Jenna we spent almost 10 minutes in the Clam Cave watching 2 Sea Lions swimming around and climbing on the edge just a few feet away from us.
Remember that Sunday is Mother's Day, and that we have a Special online for the occasion!

Birthday Party on the water!
For Chatanya's birthday, Manali wanted to surprise him with a private tour for them and Aditi and Manas, so we set up birthday balloons in the shop, and on the boats! Chatanya was totally unaware and surpised about it. Manali even brought in cupcakes and candles, hiding them in a beach bag as they were just supposed to go spend the day on the beach!
Manali and Chatanya
We paddled along the shores to the caves, a lot of cormorants on the cliff, and a lot of sea lions everywhere, all sizes, all ages!
Then the low tide and calm swell allowed us to land at Emerald Cove for a mini birthday party with cake!

Then it was time to go through the Clam Cave...
... and head back to shores with a little playtime on the way.
Happy Birthday Chatanya!
