The Leopard Sharks are back

Our friendly sharks are finally back int he area! We saw them yesterday for the time this year. Totally harmless, the Leopard Sharks move in La Jolla Shores in the Spring to give birth. About 99% of the population we have are pregnant females or young ones. The females will be giving birth here, then rest and mate again. Their pregnancy lasts 10 months, and the pups are born alive.

Spent the Morning with the Beautiful Grey Whales

This morning on our 10:40am tour we had an unexpected visit from a few grey whales. We watched them play from a couple hundred feet away until they decided to dive right under our boats. We are always excited to interact with the incredible animals that visit our reserve, but this morning was extra special. They stayed around us for about 10 minutes and then cruised out to deeper waters, finally diving with flukes in the air!
